Earlier in my career I often wondered how I could integrate my love of animals into my professional life. The idea came to me in early 2016, when I realized that the investment market place was missing strategies centered on animal welfare. After researching many companies involved with the lives of animals – millions of animals – I noted that most do not disclose information about the animals impacted by their operations.
Without adequate information investors are unable to assess those risks presented by animal welfare in their investment decisions. After many long nights and weekends, with the help of my co-partner and colleagues, Karner Blue Capital (KBC) was brought to life, to bring together investors and animals through the concept of compassionate investing.
I bring over 25 years of experience to the firm. Concurrently, with my position at KBC, I serve as President of Calvert Investments, Inc., which ceased operations in 2017 and is currently in the process of winding down its business. Before 2017, I served Calvert as its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer responsible for securities operations, finance, mutual fund administration and valuation.
Prior to my work at Calvert I held leadership roles in public and private financial services, as well as in the fund management industry. I spent ten years with KPMG in Boston as a senior audit partner in their financial services business sector for mutual and alternative funds (hedge, private equity, CDOs) and their advisors. Other positions prior to KPMG include Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Columbia Management (formerly Liberty Financial), Vice President at State Street, and Senior Manager at Coopers & Lybrand.
I have also held board positions on the Boston Partners for Youth with Disabilities, and the Boston Partners in Education non-profit organizations. I have a master’s of business administration with high distinction from Bentley College, and a bachelor of arts in Economics Business Administration, magna cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire.
